THIRTY-SECOND SPECIALTY April 19, 2002
Lou Swafford
Our Club, the Airedale Terrier club of Metropolitan Washington, DC, Inc. held its annual Specialty Show on April 19, 2002, in conjunction with the Columbia Terrier Association. As most of you know this show is part of the famous Cherry Blossom Circuit. The day started out overcast, but by noontime, the temperature was in the high eighties. However, the show was inside so it wasn’t too bad. Our entries were down a little this year, but then all shows seem to be down a little.
Our Sweepstakes Judge was Corally Burmaster and the Sweepstakes started at 9:00 AM, with an entry of 17 youngsters. As always it was a pleasure to see all the youngsters do their thing. The Best Puppy in Sweepstakes was Victorianne Ironwood (D), owner, Anne Curtis & Elysse Butnich. Best Junior in Sweepstakes was Craigston Contessa (B), owner, Theodore Hollander. Best in Sweepstakes was Craigston Contessa. Veteran Sweepstakes was won by Ch Airefield Stealth, owner Robert & Colleen Butterfield. Corally did an outstanding job of Judging and we thank her for a job well done.

Best of Winners was Swinging Bridge Precocity (B), owner by Mary & Stuart Gleich. Best of Opposite Sex was Law’s Lady Chatterly (B), owned by Alex & Dee Wheeler. Our thanks go to Rhonda Davis, who also did an outstanding job.

Our thanks to all the ATCMW club members who worked hard to make this an outstanding Specialty. Starting with Jim McDermott, who provided the coffee and donuts before and during the show. To Marie and Russ Hammond for setting up all the Trophies. To Karl Broom, who assisted me in Stewarding the Sweepstakes and Regular Class Judging. To Linda Dart, Pam McKusick, Ann Riley for their efforts in the Obedience Ring. To Marie & Russ Hammond and Nancy Delea for their efforts with the luncheon after the Judging. I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone and I apologize in advance.
Also we should thanks the Columbia Terrier Association for their management of the entire show. Until next year, may all your Airedales be Champions and the greatest companions.
