On October 12, 2002, our Club, the Airedale Terrier Club of Metropolitan Washington, DC, Inc. held its annual Airedale Square following the Airedale judging at the Catonsville Kennel Club Show at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, MD.

The Airedale judging started about 12 noon and was finished at approximately 12:30 PM. The three top winners were: BOB, CH SERENDIPITY HERE I AM. Owners Pamela Hammond-Meine & Russell Hammond. Breeder: Barbara Schneider; BOW, TARTAN SCOTTSHIRE BRAVEHEART

Owners/Breeders: Carol Scott & E Forbes Gordon; and BOS, WATAIRES WHITE ROSE FANTASTIC. Owners: Walter Troutman & Roberta Brennan. Breeder: Walter Troutman. The Open RESERVE Dog and Bitch winners were: Dog SERENDIPITY MACALLAN’S LAD. Owners: Joseph & Margaret Tieger & Barbara Schneider. Breeders: Joe Walker & Barbara Schneider. Bitch – JOVAL LADY STARLIGHT. Owner/Breeder Valeria Rickard DVM. By the way, the Airedale Judge was Marvin L. Gelb. The entry was 12 Airedales.

While most of us were watching the Airedales do their thing, a small group, headed by Nora Dudman stayed in Barn #4 and put out a spread of food, fit for a King (no pun intended).

While the food was being put out, another group was busy arranging the Auction items, for both the silent and verbal auctions. Marie Hammond and Pam McKusick, assisted by Russ Hammond, Bill Russell and Nancy Delea.

Jim McDermott arrived at approximately 7 AM and set up the tables and made the coffee.

The clean up crew consisted of Nora Dudman, Pat Erwin, Joyce Grahm and Jean Harne. The Auction was a success and our own Russ Hammand was the Auctioneer. The proceeds go to the General Fund and Airedale Rescue.

Our thanks go to all the club members who donated food and/or money to make this event a huge success.
